Minimum wage policy is described as the lowest amount of money provided by a
particular company as a basic salary to their employees for the work performed over a certain
period. According to Godøy et al. (2019), the United States Congress enacted the Fair Labor
Standards Act (FLSA). This law established the minimum wage policy, record keeping,
youth employment standards, and overtime pay that affected the employees mostly in the
private, local, state, and federal governments. The federal government stipulated a minimum
wage policy of not less than 7.25 dollars in an hour (Godøy et al., 2019). This law was to take
effect on July 24, 2009. Additionally, the act illustrated that every employee working
overtime should be paid at a rate of one and a half times the regular pay.
